Tagetes patula 'Sparky Mix' / Dwarf French Marigold / Seeds

A popular mix of French Marigolds, with double wavy flowers in shades of yellow, orange and bi-colour.  Flowers come out from June to October, and are prolific, typically 50 blooms per plant in full sun.  These are great plants for edging and pots.  They also deter garden pests, and are widely grown around and within vegetable gardens.

French Marigolds grow best in full sun and well-drained soil.  They will attract butterflies and bees into your garden.

Pack of approx 400 seeds.  Sow in spring.  Start in pots indoors in early spring or sow directly into cultivated soil in later spring.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Hardiness Half hardy annual (RHS Hardiness H2)
Flowers June to September/October
Height 30cm
Spread 20 - 30cm
Conditions  Sun and well drained soils
Sow Sow in early spring in a tray or pots of moist seed compost and cover lightly with compost or vermiculite.  Keep at 20-25°C and seedlings emerge in 1-3 weeks. Pot on and grow until the plants are ready to plant out after the last frost. Or sow directly into cultivated soil about two weeks before the last frost (late May/June).  Pinch out the growing tips once established to encourage bushier plants.
Grow Deadhead plants to prolong flowering.  Water plants during dry spells.  Feed container grown plants once a week.  Protect plants against slugs and snails.  Spidermites can attack plants under glass. Plants die down after flowering in the autumn when they should be removed.  Sow seeds again in spring.
