Lavender ‘Pink Perfume’ / Lavandula angustifolia / Seeds

An aromatic compact variety of Lavender, with rosy pink flowers in July to September.  Plants have grey green leaves and grow to a height of 30-50cm.  These are very adaptable plants, looking good in containers, borders and alongside paths.  They will attract pollinating insects, and makes good dried flowers.

Lavender ‘Pink Perfume’ grows best in a warm sunny spot and in well-drained soil.  They are drought tolerant once established and easy to look after.

Pack of approx 50 seeds.  Sow autumn/winter in a cold-frame or unheated greenhouse or anytime, preferably including 3 weeks in a fridge.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Sow

Sow in autumn on the surface of a tray of seed compost.  Cover in clear plastic and over-winter in a cold frame or unheated greenhouse. Seedlings emerge in early spring. Or sow anytime.  Keep at 15-18°C. If there is no germination in 3 weeks, place the tray in a fridge for 3 weeks and then back into the warmth for germination.  Do not exclude light which is needed for germination.  Transplant the seedlings into pots and then into the garden after the last frost in a sunny position.

Grow Plants need little care once established.  Trim back plants after flowering, removing the current year’s growth.  Do not cut back too hard into the woody parts of the plant, as stems may not regrow.  Plants are not generally troubled by pests and diseases.  Semi-ripe cuttings take well in summer.
