Eschscholzia caespitosa 'Sundew' / Tufted Californian Poppy / Seeds

The Tufted Californian Poppy is a compact and very showy species of Poppy with lemon-yellow flowers in summer from June to September.  Flowers sit neatly on mounds of thin, grey-green feathery leaves.  Plants grow to a height of about 15cm and look good in borders, wilder gardens and containers.  They tolerate coastal gardens and are heat and drought tolerant.

Tufted Californian Poppies grow best in full sun and poor or moderately fertile soils.  They self-seed in the right conditions.

Pack of approx 500 seeds.  Sow the seeds directly into prepared soil in batches in early autumn or late spring. Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Height 10 - 20cm
Spread 15 - 30cm

Sow

Sow in autumn or spring directly into the soil, onto the surface and rake over lightly.  Sow in batches to extend the flowering season. Germination takes 2-3 weeks depending on the conditions.  Seeds can be sown in spring indoors in root modules.  Transplant the seedlings with care as the plants do not respond well to root disturbance.

Grow Deadhead plants to prolong flowering.  Remove plants in autumn after they have finished flowering.
