The Chilean Glory Vine is a free flowering climber with clusters of tubular flowers over a very long season in summer, from May to December. The ‘Tresco Mix’ variety has a range of flowers in hot shades of orange, yellow and red, and climbs 2-4m high and about 1.5m across.
Chilean Glory Vines grow best in a sunny to part shaded position, sheltered from strong winds, in fertile, moist and well drained soils. In the UK this evergreen plant will most likely die back to the ground in the winter and in warmer gardens will start growing again in spring, especially in well drained soils. The tubers can be grown in containers and moved into a greenhouse in winter, where they may retain their leaves. Provide support for these plants to climb up, such as a trellis or nearby shrub.
Pack of approx 250 seeds. Sow the seeds in winter and spring indoors if growing as an annual for first year flowering. Sow into early autumn for next year flowering. Germination takes 2-3 months and is erratic, so sow more than you need. Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.
