Chervil is a popular French herb, similar to Parsely. Plants have feathery evergreen leaves and small white flowers in summer, growing to a height of 30–60cm. The leaves can be cut at any time of year and have a mild aniseed flavour. The leaves are used to flavour eggs, chicken and fish dishes, as an addition to salads, and as a garnish. This herb is best used fresh. The leaves can be frozen.
Chervil is a cool climate plant, need cooler and well watered conditions in fertile soil. It is best grown in part shade in high summer and can be grown in direct sun in winter. Plants thrive indoors if given enough light but not too dry or hot in summer. Chervil grows well in deeper containers.
Pack of approx 2000 seeds. Sow the seeds from spring to late summer directly into the ground or into their final containers. Leaves can start to be harvested as a cut-and-come-again herb about 6 weeks from sowing. Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the seed packet.
