A well-known medicinal plant and lovely daisy-like plant for the garden. Arnica grows a rosette of leaves and tall flower spikes of yellow flowers from June to August. Plants grow to about 75cm in height and look great in the middle of borders and in herb gardens. Arnica has been used for centuries as a medicinal plant, with preparations made from fresh flowers in summer and from the rhizomes in autumn. Parts of the plant are considered toxic and should not be used internally.
Arnica is an alpine plant from central Europe and grows best in moist, well drained neutral to slightly alkaline soil in full sun.
