Arctotis fastuosa 'Zulu Warrior Mix' / Namaqua Marigold / Half hardy annual / Seeds

Namaqua Marigolds are one of the Namaqualand daisies that flower in profusion every spring in Southern Africa.  This cultivated mix of daisies have large white and orange flowers with mottled eyes, flowering from June/July to August.  Plants grow to a height of up to 60cm.

The Namaqua Marigold likes full sun and well drained soil. The flowers open to face the sun.  Plants produce more flowers when they are well watered and fertilized.

Pack of approx 200 seeds.  Sow in autumn for early summer flowering and spring for later flowering.   Start in seed trays and plant out after the last frost. Easy and fast to grow.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Sow

Sow in spring for a summer display or autumn for an earlier display. Sow the seeds in trays of moist seed compost or directly in prepared soil after the last frost. Scarifying (lightly scratching) the seeds before sowing can improve germination.  Keep at room temperature (about 20°C).  Germination takes 1-2 weeks.  Pot on when seedlings are large enough to handle and plant outside after the last frost.

Grow Water and fertilize well for the best flowers.  Flowers open in the sun.  Stem cuttings can be done in summer, preferably from non-flowering shoots. Plants die in the autumn, when they can be removed, and more seeds sown again in spring and/or autumn.
