An ornamental and graceful grass, with delicate spikes of rose-tinged flowers in mid to late summer. These are semi-evergreen plants from New Zealand, with some leaves growing in gold and bronze, and prized particularly for these beautiful colours. Plants grow to a height of about 60cm. They are good for borders and cutting, and grow well in containers. They wave in the wind and provide lovely movement in a border. Has an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Anemanthele grows best in sun to part shade and well-drained soil. Plants are hardy to about -10°C, when they may die back in winter, and start growing again in spring. They do not die back in warmer winters. Plants grow into clumps and can be divided in spring.
