Agrimonia eupatoria / Agrimony / British Wildflower / Seeds

Agrimony is an appealing British Wildflower and popular garden plant.  Plants grow to a height of 50-100cm, with soft hairy green leaves and scented spikes of brilliant yellow flowers in summer from June to August.  They attract pollinators into the garden and are generally trouble free once established. Agrimony is a traditional medicinal plant and natural fabric dye.

Agrimony grows best in a sunny to part shaded position in damp and well drained soils.   The plants are hardy and tolerate exposed locations, drought and highly alkaline soils.

Pack of approx 30 seeds.  Sow the seeds directly into the ground or into a cold frame in autumn or spring.  Seeds germinate erratically over several weeks, so sow more than you need.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Grown in Cornwall.

Hardiness Hardy perennial (RHS Hardiness H7)
Flowers June to August
Height 50 - 100cm when in flower
Spread 20 - 30cm
Conditions  A sunny to part shaded position in damp and well drained soil
Sow

Sow the seeds directly into cultivated ground in autumn or spring.  Keep the soil moist and free of weeds until germination.  Or sow the seeds into trays of compost in a cold frame or unheated greenhouse in spring or autumn.  Germination takes about 3-4 weeks.  If there is no germination, place the trays in a fridge for 2-4 weeks to break seed dormancy and back into the coldframe for germination.  Germination is erratic, so sow more than you need.

Grow  Plants grow into clumps of leaves with tall flower spikes.  Cut back the plants after flowering as they die back in winter.  They start growing again in spring and live on for several years.  Root cuttings can be done in autumn.
